Passover & Mimouna |
The holiday of Passover begins on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan (this year April 18), lasts for seven days and commemorates the exodus from Egypt. One of the important precepts of this holiday is the abstinence from eating leaven - any baked goods prepared with flour and allowed to rise, or prepared foods containing flour. Instead of bread, Jews eat matzah.

On the evening after the seventh day of Pesach, Jews of North African origin, particularly Morocco, celebrate Mimouna. People go from house to house, visiting friends and relatives and eating delicious sweet foods, especially mufleta, a delicious Moroccan pancake
